Parts of Alton Road, Wilcot (C8) and Rudge Lane Oare to be closed Feb 20 to 23 2017


Temporary Closure of: C8 (Part) Alton Road / Wilcot Green, Wilcot and Huish (Ref: TTRO 4604) Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council has made an Order to close temporarily to all traffic: C8 (Part) Alton Road / Wilcot Green, Wilcot and Huish; from a point adjacent to the property ‘Oak Farm’ in a south-easterly direction for a distance of approximately 650m to a point approximately 150m east of its junction with Hare Street. To enable: Wiltshire Council to carry out carriageway reconstruction work, surface dressing, road markings and associated works. Alternative route: via C8 (unaffected length) Alton Road / Alton Priors – C38 Alton Barnes / Honeystreet / The Sands / Broad Street / Hilcott / North Newnton – A345 – C52 Manningford Bruce / Little Abbots – C8 Wilcot Green (unaffected length) and vice versa. The closure and diversion route will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. This Order will come into operation on 20 February 2017 and it is anticipated that the closure will be required for one day between the hours of 07.00 and 18.00.

Also, Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council has made an Order to close temporarily to all traffic: Rudge Lane, Oare, Wilcot and Huish; from its junction with C264 Draycott Fitzpayne to its junction with A345. To enable: Wiltshire Council to carry out carriageway reconstruction work, surface dressing, road markings and associated works.

This Order will come into operation on 21 February 2017 and it is anticipated that the closure will be required daily between the hours of 07.00 and 18.00 until 24 February 2017.

The Annual Parish Meeting will be held on the 11th of April at Wilcot Village Hall, starting at 7.30pm followed by a History meeting for the Parish.

Wilcot Huish and Oare Council are taking part in the Clean Up Wiltshire Event on Saturday the 24th of March. 

We invite all members of the public to come along and join us.

The Parish council would like to extend an invitation to all residents of the Parish for a History Meeting on the 21st of October at 5pm in Oare Village Hall. We hope to work with residents to collect oral history, photographs, written information and pictures about Oare and Huish, collating the information and presenting it in a variety of ways to be shared locally and in the wider area.
