A couple of rules to follow are:

Never give passwords or pin numbers to callers.

Never agreed to pay a fee or give bank details to unsolicited callers.

If they are genuine, take the details and say you will call them back and they should agree.  Then research them or ask for advice.  This gives you time to decide how to proceed.

Don’t be afraid to disconnect a call mid speech.

You can report scams to https://actionfraud.police.uk/ or call 0300 123 2040

Also with the darker nights make sure all your out-buildings are secure.  The Bobby Van is available to help vulnerable families if needed.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Service will also do Safe and Well Visits to check out your home.
